How Helga Luise

For over 15 years, I worked as a fashion designer, but eventually, I grew disillusioned with what the industry had become. The constant push for lower costs and higher profits came at the expense of people—manufacturers and designers alike—working under abusive and underpaid conditions. I knew I didn’t want to be a part of that system anymore.

When I became a mom, everything shifted. I couldn’t imagine balancing the demands of the fashion world with being a present mother, so I chose to stay home with my children for six years. Still, I deeply missed creating and contributing financially to my family. I realized that if I wanted things to change, I had to lead that change myself.

I saved every penny to invest in my own business and began learning everything I could about running an online fashion brand in the U.S. I taught myself how to design prints, scale sewing patterns, and even print my own fabrics. I started small—selling to friends and at local markets—and soon discovered a vibrant community of mothers doing the same. Hundreds, if not thousands, of stay-at-home moms were using their skills to sew, sell, and build incomes through social media and Facebook groups. Some were even earning six figures. Seeing this filled me with excitement and showed me the incredible possibilities. That’s when Helga Luise was born.

Who is Helga?

Helga Luise was my grandmother—like a second mother to me—who gave me confidence and inspired my love for fashion from the time I was little. She was also a seamstress, and her influence continues to shape me today.

This brand is for you, Oma, and for all the hardworking moms who dream of creating something of their own.
